Wildlife Preserves

Marine Mammal Center

They treat and rehabilitate sick and orphaned marine mammals. On weekends and holidays they have volunteer docents on site. They treat between 600-800 animals annually. Free.

Lindsay Wildlife Museum
1931 First Ave., Walnut Creek.

Adults- $7, Ages- 2-17 $5
The museum treats and rehabilitates wild native animals. You can get up close and personal with many of the residents. Petting opportunities, hands-on discovery room, feeding times and storytelling help the youngsters connect to the wildlife.

Seymour Marine Discovery Center

Adults- $6 Ages 4-16- $4
Free- 1st Tuesday of the month.
This is a working marine lab connected to UC Santa Cruz. They have an exhibit hall, touch tank, aquarium and the worlds largest blue whale skeleton. Lots of hands-on experiences here.

Fitzgerald Marine Reserve
Tide Pools- Moss Beach (near Half Moon Bay)

Great tide pooling. The rocks are very sharp and can be slippery, so wear appropriate shoes. Bring a windbreaker and dry shoes. The website has information on best viewing times and tide tables.
