Parks and Hiking

Tilden Regional Park
Grizzly Peak, Berkeley, ca. http://www.ebpark.org/
Merry-go-round, miniature steam train. Rides are $2. The Little Farm is very popular and is free.

Fairyland
Lake Merritt, Oakland. http://www.fairyland.org/
Adults and children $7. Themed park around Mother Goose Fairytales. Five or six little rides and lots of areas for active and imaginative play. They have a puppet theater.

Pixieland
Concord. http://www.pixieland.com/
Six or seven small rides suitable for 3-6 year olds. $1.50 a ticket or 10 for $14.00

Small World Park
2551 Harbor Street Pittsburg.
Train rides, carousel and kids rides. Feed the ducks and catch crawdads. Admission is1.75 for ages 1-14 and 3.50 for adults. There is no extra charges for rides.

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

Wed. and Thurs. after 5 P.M. Unlimited rides wristband- $9.95 (Found this information in a newspaper but when I went to their website , there was no mention of it. ????)

Fairytale Town

Zoo Combo Ticket- Adults- $12.75-13.75 Ages 3-12 $10.25-11.25
This is a really cute park adjacent to the Sacramento Zoo. It’s all imaginative play areas. They have Owl’s house, Little Engine that Could, Pirate Ship, Mc Gregor’s Garden, Alice’s Rabbit Hole, Jack and the Beanstalk, Sherwood Forest, Cinderella’s Coach, the Crooked Mile, The Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe, Jack and Jill’s Hill and more. They also have a Children’s Theater.

www.ebparks.org Information on all East Bay Regional Parks. Great hiking possibilities. Lots of free activities going on all over the East Bay.

www.bayareahiker.com They have pictures to show you the type of terrain. They tell you if it’s sunny or shaded, easy or difficult, how long it should take, how far you will walk, if it’s heavily traveled or not. They tell you if there is an elevation change. They have the best hikes for seeing wildlife, best hikes for summertime, best streamside hikes, best lake hikes, best waterfall hikes, best beach scenery hikes, etc. You get the idea.
